Hello Gibbon Nation,
Homeowners find that over time appliances and other equipment begins to break down, walls need to be painted, new floors replace old and worn out floors, and other upgrades are made to keep the property safe, fresh, and up-to-date.
This is also true for Gibbon Public Schools. We are in the process of making improvements and upgrades to the facility with the ultimate goal of maintaining a warm, welcoming and safe environment for constituents, students, parents, staff and guests. We want to share some of the work that is being completed over the course of this summer.
As you drive by the school you will notice concrete work on the east side of the facility. The concrete work involves removing old concrete that had a cracking and deteriorating surface, and adding new concrete in front of the Commons Doors and in the circle driveway. In addition, the concrete work will address the slope to prevent rainwater from entering the facility. We expect the concrete work will be completed by Monday, July 10th.
Inside the building we are painting classrooms and office space, upgrading carpet in several classrooms and resurfacing the small gym floor. This work should be completed by the end of July.
We also have plans to resurface the track. We have maximized the life of the track and we are experiencing issues that impact safety and the quality of performance for participants. Beginning next week, Midwest Tennis and Track will be on campus to perform Phase I of the project. Phase I involves the removal of the existing track surface. The resurfacing of the track will take place shortly after the beginning of the school year.
We hope you found this information helpful. Please drop by to see the work that is being completed or if you have any questions.
