Gibbon Nation,
Gibbon Public Schools is excited to begin the new school year and we look forward to seeing our families very soon. We wanted to offer some preliminary information to help prepare you for the first few weeks of school .
We were expecting work on concrete to begin earlier this summer, but unfortunately, the work to replace damaged concrete didn't begin until late last week. This work is taking place on the west side and east side of the facility, and this work will run well into the end of next week which will impact the beginning of the school year.
Buffalo Stampede - Tuesday, August 6th. We are asking that everyone park in the West Parking Lot and enter the facility through the west commons doors. Please be advised that you will see a barricade that will prevent you from driving across newly placed concrete. The area that has the barricade rests in the main parking area where employees usually park. It may be easiest for families if they park in the graveled area of the west parking lot.
West Parking Lot. Concrete was poured today, August 3rd. You should be able to walk on the new concrete beginning Monday but you will not be able to drive on any new concrete for seven days. There is one area where a car could travel over new concrete and that area has been barricaded off to protect drivers and cars. Also, orange cones have been placed around the areas with freshly poured concrete.
Beginning Monday, August 5th, our FAMILY at Gibbon Public Schools will park on the West side of the facility and until further notice. We are asking those who wish to visit the campus that you call ahead so that we can make the necessary arrangements to get you safely into the facility. Please monitor the district website for more information.
East Parking Lot. There has been some work already completed on the East Parking Lot, but beginning tomorrow, Saturday, August 3rd, even more work will be done that will include the installation of pumps, a drainage system, and new concrete. The entrance into the East Parking Lot will be closed beginning Saturday evening and until further notice.
Please refrain from attempting to enter the facility through the east entrance and please do not walk in areas were construction is taking place. We are asking those who wish to visit the campus that you call ahead so that we can make the necessary arrangements to get you safely into the facility. Please monitor the district website for more information.
The Start of The New School Year. The school year will start as originally scheduled. However; as you can imagine, this work will impact the beginning of a new school year. Specifically, drop-off areas for school buses and access into the facility for visitors.
The administrative team will meet next week to finalize drop-off areas for buses. At this time, we are asking those who wish to visit the campus that you call ahead so that we can make the necessary arrangements to get you safely into the facility. Please monitor the district website for more information.
Existing drop-off procedures are in effect and parents dropping their children off at school can expect the same process that has been used in the past. An important reminder, and even more important now that we have all this construction, please exit to the west when dropping your children off in the morning and after picking them up in the afternoon.
We deeply appreciate your patience. Please don't hesitate to call the school and look for more information on our website.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you very soon.
