In accordance with Nebraska State Department of Education Rule 51, we have: Retained special education records for five (5) years after completion of activities for which special education funds were used; Collected and maintained personally identifiable information for educational purposes; The information which is no longer necessary to provide education services to the child and will be destroyed. A school district is required to keep permanent records of each student’s name, address, phone number, his or her grades, attendance records, classes attended, grade level completion and year completed. It is not required to keep special education records after 5 years. You are welcome to review the special education records and, if you choose to obtain copies of this information at the Special Education Office at Gibbon Public Schools before they are destroyed. We have been in contact with the Sheriff's Department regarding "hoax" phone calls that report an active shooter. These "hoax" calls are occurring nationwide and are now starting to happen in Central Nebraska. Gibbon Public Schools HAS NOT RECEIVED such a threat at this time.
